Sacred Mountains way
The thematic route that reunite three sanctuaries dedicated to the Madonna: Monte Santo (Sveta Gora) in the municipality of Nova Gorica, Maria Zell (Marijino Celje) in the municipality of Kanal ob Soči on the Slovenian side and Castelmonte (Stara Gora) on the Italian side. All three sanctuaries are well-known and constant pilgrimage destination. The sanctuaries can be reached by choosing three different types of route: the one by car or bus, the mountain bike or the most traditional is walking. The Way of the Sacred Mountains can be reached by car in one day, while it takes two days for the mountain bike or walking route. It takes longer, but surely the stimulus and the emotions are greater
