The Magredi "Magredo" means "lean soil", arid and poor in water for the presence of stones, although Friuli-Venezia Giulia is known as the most rainy region of Italy. In the summer the dry meadows of the Magredi appear as a barren land burnt by the Sun, defining it as a landscape similar to some desolate lands of the south or as the continental steppes of Eastern Europe.
