In Roman age Aquileia was a thriving river port. Today the territory is still a peculiar environment situated between land and lagoon, fresh water and salt water. It is really very easy to reach the Grado lagoon and the nearby lagoon parks using all available means of transport. These wetlands are considerably interesting for nature lovers, especially in fall, winter and spring in which the birds make a stop in their migration from Africa to the northen countries.
